The Ketogenic Diet & Type 2 Diabetes
I initially thought that this might really be a great way to lose excess fat (except for the inclusion of meat!). Although you can get the same results by replacing the meat with vegan alternatives, it would definitely require a little more effort & experimentation to find equivalent plant-based replacements for the various meats in Keto cookbooks. I’ve kept my eyes peeled for a vegan ketogenic cookbook for some time now without success so far. But this comprehensive article that explains the results of studies involving this diet with regards to Type 2 Diabetes and Coronary Artery Disease really puts into perspective how following a Ketogenic Diet is not a long-term solution and will do more harm than good: Does the Keto Diet help Type 2 Diabetes? The best long-term solution is to follow a Whole Food Plant Based diet which will restore health, diminish excess fat, and actually reverse many diseases, without any harmful effects!
