Low-Carb Diet – Conclusion

By |2017-04-04T00:45:18-07:00March 22nd, 2017|Miscellaneous, Skin Care|0 Comments

After about 3 months on a low-carb diet, I stopped seeing posititve results on my derriere.  In other words, it wasn't diminishing anymore.  I lost some fat from that area but then I just reached a plateau where no more progress was being made.  That was disappointing so I stopped following this diet as strictly as I had been.  I did, however, lose any fat I had on the rest of my body!  So if you're not particular about where the fat disappears from, this diet will not fail to get rid of some fat. And I did learn a few things!  This diet was probably one of the healthiest things I have ever done for my body.  It made me realize how much of [...]

By |2017-04-03T22:52:01-07:00January 24th, 2017|January, Miscellaneous, Monthly Info., Travel|0 Comments

This is a wonderful opportunity for any lady in the world who'd like to go on a trip with a group of new friends!  If you are female and want to go travelling but don't have anyone to go with, two ladies in Kelowna called the "Travelling Grannies" have organized a custom trip to Spain with "GoAhead" tours, a reputable touring company that provides a multitude of tours all over the world. This customized tour is an unusual and specialized route these two ladies have planned called the "The Best of Spain: Seville to Barcelona". It includes 15 days of guided sightseeing, handpicked hotels, local cuisine and the company of a whole new group of lady friends! I have never travelled before so this would [...]

New Year’s Resolutions

By |2017-01-06T22:53:40-08:00January 6th, 2017|January, Miscellaneous, Monthly Info., Okanagan, BC|0 Comments

We all make them! and then break them.... Rule #1: make it achievable by taking baby steps to incorporate your plan as part of your routine. Especially when it comes to goals involving your health & weight, these plans require a lifetime commitment and a conscious decision to make the required change(s). If you approach your resolution with a short-term effort as your plan, your success will be short-lived and you will find that resolution returning to greet you with every New Year.  Your heart's gotta be on board with the program because if it's not, it just won't succeed.  But don't be discouraged!  You just need to do some soul-searching to figure out what is really important to you, and listen to your gut [...]

December Health Tips

By |2016-12-15T03:00:53-08:00December 14th, 2016|December, Monthly Info.|0 Comments

So it's almost halfway through the month already.  The month that brings a seemingly endless abundance of decadent treats to celebrate the festive season.  There's nothing wrong with enjoying the goodies so go ahead and tickle your taste buds! No need to feel guilty, this is a special time of year and resisting all the tasty delectables will only make you feel cranky and resentful.  This is not the time to be dieting.  Besides, the word "diet" implicates short-term food restrictions for what amounts to nothing but short-term results. To achieve long-term health, you need to adopt a lifetime dietary habit that includes healthy, nutritious foods for the majority of your meals.  You can still do this during the most indulgent month of the year.  [...]

Low-Carb Experiment Results

By |2016-12-07T21:53:43-08:00December 7th, 2016|Food, Monthly Info., November|0 Comments

Well, after a full month of ahering pretty stictly to my low-carb diet, I lost 3 lbs and 1" circumference around my posterior.  Considering I was probably consuming over 200+ carbs a day prior to the diet and spent a month consuming less that 50 carbs a day only to lose 1", I can't help but wonder what my body's been doing with all those extra carbs before, as I was not all that much more active... It's encouraging to see that some of the fat disappeared so I'm determined to keep this up as long as I see progress.  My goal for December is to not regain the fat as I will allow myself to enjoy some small indulgences of the season.  My plan [...]

NHP Week: Nov. 7 – 13, 2016

By |2016-11-16T02:14:00-08:00November 9th, 2016|Monthly Info., November, Politics, Supplements|0 Comments

This week is dedicated to celebrate the Natural Health Products that help keep millions of Canadian healthy without the harmful side-effects of pharmaceutical drugs.  As such, NHP sales cut into Big Pharma's profits.  Unbeknownst to most of us, we are only now finding out about a list of sneaky and detrimental changes being proposed by Health Canada as a result of lobbying by large pharmaceutical companies. Health Canada is Big Pharma's puppet to keep Canadians dependent on drugs.  If it ain't broke... our government should be expanding our access to natural products and encouraging its population to use natural, plant-based healing products to maintain and reclaim health.  Instead, they want to do the exact opposite after conducting a single, obscure consumer survey I never heard [...]

My Low-Carb Vegetarian Experiment

By |2016-11-16T02:14:42-08:00November 8th, 2016|Food, Monthly Info., November|0 Comments

I'm going to start off by explaining that I am a healthy, slim and fairly fit woman (although I should exercise more).  But like alot of women, I have some stubborn fat I've never been able to get rid of.  Unlike most women who usually deal with belly fat, my fat storage compartment resides in my derriere and has remained there for my entire adult life.  Nothing I've done has gotten rid of this useless fat. When I read about Ketosis almost 2 years ago, it sounded like the perfect solution to dissolve the fat.  However, all the Ketogenic cookbooks I've seen are written for meat eaters.  I did not want to deal with the hassle of reconfiguring recipes to suit my vegetarian lifestyle.  Finally, [...]

November Health Tips

“Stop being a slave to bad eating habits that are making you sick! Choose instead to eat the foods that will nourish and heal your body” This is a good time to start practising better eating habits before the onslaught of holiday decadence. You have to re-learn how to eat and practice for some time before it becomes second nature. Start adopting healthy habits now, that you can keep as guidelines throughout the holidays and resume in the New Year ahead. Your body is constantly talking to you: start listening to it! If you choose to keep meat in your diet, start incorporating the mediterranean diet as part of your weekly menu: eat more fish and switch to olive oil Use herbs, spices or even [...]

Alzheimer’s

By |2017-04-03T22:03:45-07:00July 12th, 2016|Diseases, Literature|0 Comments

For anyone suffering from this terrible disease and those who love them, here is some promise and hope to find a cure. February 23, 2016 An UPDATED Note from Dr. Mary Newport It has been nearly 8 years since Steve improved with coconut oil. He improved very significantly and steadily the first year and remained stable for 2 more years. He began having seizures in summer 2013 starting with a head injury from a fall and did not fully recover. In spite of this serious setback, I feel it was well worth the extra quality time that we had together as a family. Source: Untitled Document
